Accommodation and Surroundings

Adjoining the main farmhouse at the former
farm of Le Hamel Roger and offering complete
privacy is Kestrel Cottage, aptly named because
of the family of kestrels nesting next door
during the spring and early summer.
We live in the farmhouse with our young family
and enjoy welcoming guests from all over the
world. One holidaymaker left a note in the
guestbook saying that we are "helpful yet
unobtrusive hosts" which is what we aim to
be!

 |
The cottage has a large spacious
lounge with a log fire, comfortable seating,
bed-settee, DVD player, radio/CD player & TV with French and UK Freesat channels. There is a selection
of books, games and DVDs.
|
|
|
The kitchen has a cooker with grill, microwave, and a toaster. There is a dishwasher, washing machine,
fridge, freezer, kettle, iron and ironing board.
We think that the kitchen has everything you need but if you find something lacking please ask us.
A door leads from the kitchen to a shower room
and w.c.
Constant hot water is provided.

The dining area, with table

Highchairs are available

The large gallery landing is
a great space to have. There are games, toys and a TV for watching DVDs, so it makes a great second lounge. Alternatively, the games can be cleared away and the
sofa converted to a bed to take the accommodation
to 10 or 12 people if you need it.

Outside the cottage at the front
is a gravel drive providing ample parking. The landscaped grass terrace is
a great place to play and relax. |
|
|
|
The garden has a large lawned area with trampoline, football goal, a tractor-tyre sandpit and a fabulous old sycamore tree where there are swings for all ages and of course the possibility of climbing it.
We have a 4.5m above-ground solar-heated swimming pool in its own securely fenced area with lockable gate.
There is an open barn with table-tennis table & equipment. There is yet another covered place to play for adventurous children - the 'old chicken shed' has a climbing frame suitable for younger children and lots of toys to encourage imaginative, expressive play.
|
|
For quieter moments there
is bench seating at the top of our hill which affords wonderful
views across the valley and creates a peaceful
space for reflection and calm
|
Exclusively for the use of our guests we have seating and tables next to the pond outside the cottage.
As you explore the garden between grand old trees, established shrubbery and fruit trees you will come across benches and seating and a big fixed BBQ which we all share. There is a smaller portable BBQ exclusively for your use if you prefer.
If indoor play is the order of the day you can discover our play loft. An area equipped with a small ball pit and ride-on toys for little ones or table tennis & table football for older children and adults.

We provide all the bed linen, bedding and towels. If you just need a few items we can pick them up for you whilst shopping for ourselves. If you would like us to do a full shop we are happy to but will have to make a small charge for the special trip. Just e-mail your requirements a couple of weeks before you come. |
